چکیده
We will show how an electrochemical lithium-ion battery model is approximated with electrodeaveraged solid diffusion dynamics and parameterized through a reasonable set of experimental data. The parameterized model renders the critical solid-electrolyte surface charge as observable and allows the application of an extended Kalman filter for state of charge (SOC) estimation from the measured voltage. Apart from control and protection, the SOC estimator is then used for cell balancing, diagnostics, and battery pack design. We finally discuss next steps in thermal management, packaging, and advanced diagnostics.

ARC Collaborative Research Seminar Series Winter 2006
In the first part of this presentation, recent advances in reliability-based robust design optimization (RBRDO) will be presented. The objective of RBRDO is to minimize the product quality loss function subject to probabilistic constraints. Since the quality loss function is usually expressed in terms of the first two statistical moments, mean and variance, many methods have been proposed to ac...

متن کاملCollabU: a design for reflective, collaborative university teaching and learning
This paper describes a collaborative university seminar, CollabU, involving five North-American universities in its first implementation in the Winter of 1999. In this report we emphasize the design process, the role of reflective practice, and the implications of the seminar for understanding emerging transformations in university learning, teaching, and scholarship.

Given the validation of a simulation for a certain application domain, the questions becomes whether and how we can extrapolate our confidence to unknown application domains. This talk outlines possible approaches that may be useful in developing confidence extrapolation techniques.
